Pride in Place: Strengthening Local Identity and Community Confidence
Launched in September 2025, the UK Government’s Pride in Place programme marks a bold new phase in community-led regeneration with the commitment of almost £6 billion to 380 neighbourhoods, each backed by up to £20 million over ten years to revitalise high streets, strengthen green and cultural assets, and restore local pride.
Pride in Place builds on the 2023 Long-Term Plan for Towns and its evolution first into the 2025 Plan for Neighbourhoods, and now sits at the heart of the Government’s commitment to give power back to local people and businesses to revitalise their local communities, address neglected high streets and tackle deep-seated problems.
For local areas, Pride in Place is an important and significant policy shift away from previous top-down approaches transferring power and responsibility back to local people.
The Genecon team has played its part throughout this evolving place policy journey. Our consultants have been at the forefront in supporting places, working closely with neighbourhood boards to translate this national ambition into deliverable, locally owned plans that secures the funding, prioritises actions and mobilises partnerships to achieve lasting change.
