Increasing partnership working between public and private
sectors has led to the creation of a wide range of special purpose
companies, with an assortment of roles and objectives. In the South
East, SEEDA has been proactive in creating SPVs to regenerate
brownfield sites, deliver strategic infrastructure in priority
areas and facilitate development opportunities. GENECON has advised
SEEDA and its partners on SPV establishment and review, including
the new Ashford Futures company to drive Growth Area investment,
the pilot Brownfield Land Assembly Company supporting affordable
housing delivery and the East Kent Partnership and associated
Spatial Development Company seeking to mobilise private investment
in new economic infrastructure.
