GENECON has secured a key instruction from the Homes & Communities Agency to advise on the scope and rationale for coordinated investment to support housing-led regeneration in priority neighbourhoods in East Birmingham. The Meadway / Cole Valley project includes the renewal of an established retail centre together with major new housing investment and a shared service hub. The scheme, involving joint investment by Birmingham City Council and the HCA, forms an innovative exemplar of the Agency's Total Place / Total Capital approach to achieving more efficient regeneration outcomes for target communities.

GENECON has been selected to lead the final evaluation of Yorkshire Forward's pioneering Renaissance Market Towns Programme. The RMT Programme has been a central feature of YF's rural regeneration activities over recent years and has been instrumental in developing a partnership approach to realising the economic potential of key market towns across the region. This appointment, together parallel work to evaluate ONE North East's Rural Development Programme confirms GENECON's position as a leading national adviser on rural regeneration issues.

GENECON has been appointed by SEEDA to undertake the economic appraisal of the Agency's investment proposals to support the development of a key employment cluster on the Isle of Wight. SEEDA's investment will support the expansion of a major employer and enable significant employment growth in a regional business cluster.
19-02-2010 Assessing the economic value of public realm investment - a national toolkit
GENECON has been selected to develop a definitive toolkit to enable public agencies to assess the economic value of public realm investments as part of urban renaissance programmes. Led by Yorkshire Forward, the work will review previous national and international studies and the key methodologies applied in quantifying the economic impacts of public realm schemes. Case studies of recent investments in Sheffield city centre will frame the development of an impact valuation toolkit capable of wider regional and national application. GENECON's appointment builds on the firm's innovative work in quantifying the economic value of key public realm investments, including high profile town & city centre streetscape improvements, large-scale new infrastructure projects including major new river crossings, new visitor attractions and green infrastructure.

GENECON has been appointed to lead a consultancy team to prepare a scoping study for a new masterplan to guide the development and regeneration of Sleaford. The study will examine the key economic drivers for the town and the critical opportunities to achieve growth and an enhanced spatial and economic role in the East Midlands.
21-09-2009 Economic advisers to the Homes & Communities Agency
GENECON has been appointed to the HCA's Panel of economic advisers. The practice will provide economic appraisal and evaluation advice to the Agency to support project and programme development and Government funding applications. GENECON has had a long history in providing similar services to English Partnerships and is already advising on some of the HCA's most significant projects nationally.
