30-05-2008  Hull City build evaluation
GENECON has been appointed to undertake the evaluation of Hull Citybuild, the city's Urban Regeneration Company as part of the Government's national assesment of the URC programme. GENECON's appointment underpins the firm's leading position as advisors on regeneration delivery vehicles. This includes recent work on the establishment of EDCs as the next generation of special purpose vehicles for economic development delivery in the UK.

 

04-03-2008  Employment and Skills Impact Study
SEEDA has appointed GENECON to undertake a major review of employment and skills programmes across the South East, following recommendations of the Leitch Review.  The study will examine the skills gaps in the region and the potential for Employment and Skills Boards to bring added value in the co-ordination of skills programmes.

 

22-02-2008  Carlisle Renaissance
GENECON has been appointed to lead the development of an action plan to guide the establishment and ongoing activities of a new partnership spearheading regeneration on Carlisle. Carlisle Renaissance is a partnership between the City Council, Cumbria County Council and NWDA, set up to deliver the Carlisle economic strategy. GENECON has advised on the governance model for Carlisle Renaissance and is now working with a high level steering group to advise on establishment and delivery.

 

22-02-2008  City / Economic Development Companies
GENECON is providing strategic support to a range local authorities and existing SPVs to assess the options for establishing City / Economic Development Companies to lead the delivery of economic development at city and sub-regional levels.  Following the Government's consultation paper on CDC's and the policy direciton offered through the Sub-National Review of Economic Development, GENECON has been appointed by a number of principal local authorities, in collaboration with RDAs, to develop options for CDC/EDC establishment.

04-09-2007  South Shields Riverside
GENECON has beeen appointed by ONE North East andSouth Tyneside Council to lead the economic appraisal of the proposed South Shields Riverside Regeneration project.  This major and complex scheme has been subject of a masterplan and is now progressing towards a delivery strategy.  GENECON is working alongside a comprehensive advisory team to advance the business case for the scheme and to provide a Treasury compliant economic appraisal

Ashford Futures, the partnership established to drive forward the growth strategy for Ashford, has appointed GENECON to review options for a new special purpose vehicle to co-ordinate the delivery of key infrastructure investments.

Berwick Harbour Commissioners and the Northumberland Strategic Partnership have commissioned a multi-disciplinary team led by GENECON to undertake a feasibility study inot the potential for a marina in Berwick Harbour.  This is a key study linked to the wider regeneration of Berwick as a key urban renaissance priority for the North East.
