GENECON has been selected to advise 1NG, NewcastleGateshead's Economic Development Company, on the case for Regional Growth Fund to support its flagship Gateshead Quays development.  The scheme, which includes proposals for an International Conference & Exhibition Centre, aims to complete the regeneration of the area between the Sage and the Baltic on the southern side of the Quayside area and to complement ongoing investment in Gateshead twon centre. Critically, the ICEC forms a component of the Newcastle Science City programme, supporting the commercialisation of the city's recognised specialisms in science and technology. GENECON will be advising on economic impact of the scheme and preparing a 'Green Book' economic appraisal to support an application for Regional Growth Fund.

19-02-2010  Assessing the economic value of public realm investment - a national toolkit
GENECON has been selected to develop a definitive toolkit to enable public agencies to assess the economic value of public realm investments as part of urban renaissance programmes. Led by Yorkshire Forward, the work will review previous national and international studies and the key methodologies applied in quantifying the economic impacts of public realm schemes. Case studies of recent investments in Sheffield city centre will frame the development of an impact valuation toolkit capable of wider regional and national application. GENECON's appointment builds on the firm's innovative work in quantifying the economic value of key public realm investments, including high profile town & city centre streetscape improvements, large-scale new infrastructure projects including major new river crossings,  new visitor attractions and green infrastructure.
